Dada's Diamonds Designer Bio Image
Dada's Diamonds

Dada’s Diamonds is the creation of Ida Forss and Kajsa Öberg, Swedish designers who both attended Konstfack School of design in Stockholm. They both had an idea from the beginning to blend modern design with classic jewelry design to create something out of the norm.

According to the designers, Dada’s Diamonds name has different associations. The designers are inspired by Dadaism and Dada’s way of looking at art and it’s easthetic expression. But also the word “dada” really means nonsense, a child’s expression. And the nice collision with the word diamonds gives the company an exclusive touch. Also, diamonds are something that is constant, and a material with a special value.

At first look Dada’s Diamonds collection would appear that it’s a sweet collection, and it is, but a closer look also reveals a slightly macabre possibly even an un-nerving feel to some of their pieces. The collection is tasteful, classic, modern and whimsical all at the same time.

The Dada’s Diamonds designers derive their ideas from literary themes and give their designs a look many can relate to. Their first collection, “Wonderland”, came from Lewis Carroll’s suggestive classic Alice in Wonderland. With a sort of mental squint, as Carroll would put it, you’d be forgiven for being drawn to it’s “intriguingly multifaceted and slightly twisted” visual direction. Another collection, “That’s Amore” and the latest, “Friday’s”, which is a collection with inspiration from Robinson Crusoe, all give the customer a little surprise, something that doesn’t follow the classic picture. By working this way with well-known stories, the designers create an object with context and connection.
