This video was shot in Helsinki, Finland. It tells the story of the collaboration between Converse and Finnish textile icon Marimekko. The cinematic portrait celebrates the timeless spirit that both brands are born out of, and unveils the story behind the women’s focused Converse x Marimekko Spring 2011 collection. The video’s soundtrack features tracks by Finnish music artists Husky Rescue and Uusi Fantasia.

Fabulous Lotta Agaton is an interior stylist from Sweden. She can make any interior look interesting. She uses a combination of patterns, texture, shapes and sizes to create intriguing compositions. She knows exactly how to create beautiful, serene space with a lot of character and elegance.

Lotta creates such beautiful and calming spaces, using mainly monochromatic neutral tones that give the interiors a power, in a serene way, that demand attention.

Promoted by Agent Bauer, Lotta has collaborated with the most interesting publications and clients in Europe, USA and South America. She started Swedish Residence Magazine about ten years ago and worked there for four years as drafting and interior design manager. And since, Lotta has been freelancing and working with many big advertising agencies and newspapers both in Sweden and internationally.

Lotta makes every room look cozy, with a lot of character and elegance while still maintaining and informal feeling, the perfect combo for a home we think! We are big fans of this wonderfully talented stylist from Sweden.

Recently Lotta put up her Stockholm apartment for sale, so lovely for sure!

3 years in the making, the Molo chair is now launched for the Danish company Duba-B8. Molo is an easy to use and comfortable meeting and conference chair. The chairs in the Molo family is available with a runner frame and 4-leg base for canteen, meeting and conference areas and also includes a bar stool. Both the 4-leg and the runner frame is available with an armrest. Further versions are to be included in the family of chairs during 2012. The seating shell is made out of reusable ABS plastic and is introduced in 5 colours; black, white, lemon, violet and oyster white. For extra comfort one can add an especially designed felt cushion. All chairs are stackable.

Molo is designed by Norwegian design group Norway Says. Molo is most likely the last product from the design group since they decided to split up in the summer of 2009. Today the designers Andreas Engesvik, Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll work out of the designcompanys Andreas Engesvik Design and Anderssen & Voll.

Its February soon which means its time for the big fashion fair in Copenhagen. I used to work for WeSc which is a Swedish street-fashion brand, and I loved going to Copenhagen twice a year to present the new line for all the buyers and meet all the sales reps from other brands and snoop around in their stands. It was always interesting to see what they come up with for that season.  All the preparations for the fashion fair is a full time job in itself. You always have questions like, “Are we getting a good stand in a great location?” “Who will our neighbors be on each side?” ” Is the sample line going to arrive in time?” and  “What about all the marketing materials?” It’s a pack everything, ship everything, put ourself on the plane, check into the hotel and then spend all evening and night unpacking and creating an awesome looking stand kind of adventure. The 3 day fashion party hasn’t even begun and I need 2 weeks vacation. It’s a wonderful time though filled with meeting a lot of new people, and there are always nights filled with parties and dinner at some of Copenhagen’s wonderful restaurants. I always had a blast during those 10 seasons as a sales rep and I miss going there to feel the competition. Holly will be traveling this week to Sweden and then on to Copenhagen for the fashion fair. She’ll be looking at what all of Huset’s vendors are offering for Fall / Winter 2011 and making orders that will start to arrive after the summer.

Since this brings back memories of wonderful Copenhagen I want to  share a good recipe for the traditional Danish smorrebrod.

Makes 12 canapés
Throughout Scandinavia the smørrebrød, or open faced sandwich is the pretty way to eat lunch. I’ve turned them into dainty finger food, perfect for parties. Yum!
Ingredients:
12 slices of dark
rye bread or pumpernickel
softened butter
1 package of smoked salmon
1/2 a cucumber, halved & sliced thinly
thinly sliced red onion, to taste
1 lemon
a few sprigs of fresh dill

We envisioned a place for storytelling and play, for fantasy and travel with the mind, for children and adults alike, says Kasper Medin och Ulrika E. Engberg, designers at Little red stuga.

The challenge was to create something new and interesting around the beanbag concept, one of the world’s most appreciated and functional pieces of furniture ever designed. For this project we explored our own relationship and associations with mountains; namely Fuji, Kilimanjaro and Mount Everest. Each pattern and color is a result of our journey discovering them. At a close-up you find more details in the patterns, like climbers and base camps on Mount Everest, Kawaii figures on Fuji and tribal masks on Kilimanjaro. The height of each mountain is printed to add a pedagogical layer. Perfect for play and storytelling moments.

The poufs are made of a very durable canvas, colored and printed in Sweden. They consist of a separate cover and an inner pouf filled with polystyrene balls.

The rug Landscape completes the three mountains, and can be used together with one or several poufs, or simply as a rug by its own. Our hand drawn image becomes an aerial view of a landscape with fields, water, railways and roads and is a development of the traditional transportation rugs motifs. We have left more room for the child’s own imagination by not completing everything; the child decides if the road is blue or a river.

– Design is a carrier of stories and context, emotions and a tool to convey thoughtfulness, awareness and confidence in children. Spaces for children should be filled with creativity and encouragement to play. Last, but not least; children deserve toys, tools and environments of good quality.
