New from Soft Gallery

Posted October 25th, 2012 by holly@huset No Comments »

Soft Gallery is the creation of two women: designer Tine Holt Møller and fashion photographer and designer Barbara Hvidt, both from Denmark. For each Soft Gallery collection, Hvidt and Møller commission local and international artists that are known for the distinctive and original style to create artworks that are featured through Soft Gallery.  The idea is to produce clothes for children who are not afraid to stand out from the crowd and who appreciate wearing design of a deeper meaning.

The challenge is to stimulate and open the eyes of a child to a different world of creativity and to broaden the way of thinking.

Soft Gallery also supports Danish Indian Childcare when selling clothes produced in India. The agreement is symbolized by the hangtag, which comes with the …

Posted August 22nd, 2012 by holly@huset No Comments »

Jonna Saarinen is one of our new designers and we love her beautiful prints and patterns!

She was born in Finland but moved to London in 1988 and studied at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, specializing in screen printing. She says “‘Most of my work is inspired by growing up by the sea in Finland, playing in the forest and spending summers with my grandmother who thought it was quite alright to wear high heels and woolly socks. I like childlike playfulness and mix&matching in design, and also in pattern. My favorite kind of pattern would be any one that makes me smile!’

Danish Design I Like It!

Posted April 14th, 2011 by holly@huset 1 Comment »

The world-famous designer Jasper Morrison has always been fascinated by Danish design. His work has often been described as more Scandinavian than British in spirit, so its no surprise to hear that he has answered a call to curate and stage an exhibition on Danish design in Copenhagen’s Design Museum in Denmark. Danish Design – I like it! is an external and international look at Danish design and the exhibition marks the change of name from the Danish Museum of Art & Design to Design museum Denmark.

“Morrison’s viewpoint has culminated in a selection of pieces that work to embody the classic and humane qualities that make up Danish design – a process he reveals to be more complex than initially anticipated. ‘It is a very condensed selection – …

This helped to bring Scandinavian design into the limelight and worldwide …
