The world-famous designer Jasper Morrison has always been fascinated by Danish design. Today the designers Andreas Engesvik, Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll work out of the designcompanys Andreas Engesvik Design and Anderssen & Voll.

When it comes to home decorating, not everyone has either the time or money to do a whole makeover of their living room.

Here are some of my favorite ways to add color to your living room and liven up the décor of your home:

1. Paint One Wall

You will find that you can add a real punch of color by painting just one wall of your living room. This will really change the focal point of the living room without becoming a major decorating project. If your room has a niche, that’s the perfect choice for extra color. Also, you can add some wallstickers to add further life.

Also, you can add some wallstickers to add further life.

2. Throw a Few Pillows Around

Nothing adds color like pillows strategically placed on furniture. Whether you choose solids for a floral sofa or chair, or colorful, patterned pillows for a solid color chair or sofa, these simple additions will add comfort and just the right splash of color.

3. Add a Whimsical Lamp

Even if you have a traditional classic living room, you can add a point of interest by selecting a lamp or shade that is colorful or whimsical.

4. Put Some Color on the Floor

A colorful throw rug, strategically placed in front of a chair or under a coffee table can add color and texture to a living room. It can be put on top of hardwood flooring, painted floors, or carpet. You can choose a contrasting color, chosen from fabric you’re using in the room, or look for one with an interesting pattern that ties into the theme of your room.

5. Extra style

No modern living room would be complete without a few excellent pieces of modern art. The specific selection should be left entirely to your own taste. Select a piece that you truly enjoy, and one that will enhance the overall decor of your living room.

Once you have your pieces selected, be sure that they receive proper presentation. In any living room, the small touches are what defines the family that lives there.

In a modern living room, it is important that the space doesn’t look cluttered. Allow plenty of open table space, and arrange shelves neatly and precisely. If you have rounded furniture and tables, incorporate some straighter lines in the artwork and accessories to keep a sense of balance in the room. Some balance between color and some white and black can be the extra touch in the accessories selection.

Norwegian industrial designers Vibeke Skar and Ida Noemi Vidal created these wonderful ceramic pendants that not only provide light, but convey the story of Norwegian traditions, the contrast between the cold weather and the warm clothing and homes. Story draws inspirations from the fact of going backwards to go forwards.
The point of departure was to design a piece of furniture that is a lounge chair and an easy chair in one. Furthermore, you should be seated great and the comfort should be superb. We believe that a chair should be beautiful from all angles. Valdemar almost embraces the user with its big open arms and welcomes in the user.” The chair is ideal for the home to create time and room. It brings character to the living room either as a part of the couch area or as a freestanding chair.
All the participating craftspeople and designers have been asked to create completely new works that reflect their unique knowledge of materials and materiality. The unique value that is generated when the right material interacts with the right form at the right time makes a significant difference and is of vital importance to the lifetime and meaning of a product.

The result is 12 powerful works that highlight the tremendous renewal and genuine craft value that characterize the field today. Originality, an explicit urge to experiment and an outstanding sense of materiality are the essence of the works of this year’s MINDCRAFT.
One of the most interesting young Scandinavian designers today is Johan Lindstén from Sweden. He participates in Stockholm Design Week this week, which is an exhibition under the name Check In 10, which refers to the 10 young designers who are “checked in” and exhibits at Hotel Birger Jarl in Stockholm.
Johan Lindsténs design is conceptual in style, and is based on an interpretation of an ancient occupation, embroidery. Under the name Dream about an idyllic place… Johan Lindstén has made a series of chairs where the upholstered backrest of the chairs all have a wonderful embroidered scene sewn on. In this way he gives historical and cultural narratives on each chair.
Dream about an idyllic place…

Many hours, many days, many weeks and years have women in older generations spent on embroidery to catch the typical Swedish idyll. Many with dreams to be a part of that life with a nice little red cottage close to the water and Bambi watching over us.

These stitches and dreams are for most people forgotten and thrown away to an eternal lost never to been appreciated. This furniture’s destiny is to elevate and promote these neglected pieces of art, bring back a long lost sentimental value and mix it with contemporary ecstatic from Johan Lindstén´s vision.

RVW is a new Swedish furniture manufacturer founded by designers Jonas Nordgren and Johannes Herbertsson who grew tired of the fast paced design business and decided to take matters into their own hands. RVW stands for consistency and condemns trends and hype in order to produce furniture that has no expiration date.
Based in Malmö in the southern part of Sweden, RVW works closely with suppliers in the Öresund region and Småland to produce their furniture. Besides breathing life in local artisanship, they also pay homage to Scandinavias design heritage.?“We see it as something self-explanatory to continue on the Scandinavian design heritage and to produce something specific from the library of materials, ideas and forms crafted over centuries,” says Johannes Herbertsson.
“Things are finding their own pace now and we are working in close contact with our suppliers. Producing something that’s more than a throwaway takes time. There are so many logos and slogans about sustainability or local production, but to communicate expression or comfort is more delicate: if someone has to tell you how to enjoy a furniture or artwork, then it is not a good piece of art,” says Jonas Nordgren.
