We just returned from Stockholm’s Formex Gift show, and what a whirlwind trip is was! Just a few days to see all the new items offered for Spring, as well as meeting some of our vendors and making new connections too.

The theme for this years Formex show was Creative Flow, and according to designer Jan Rundgren, who created the main exhibition”Creative Spaces”, is summed up by: “Studio trends are precisely with the times, the individualistic style feels like one of the most powerful things at the moment. The yearly Cabinetmaker’s Autumn Exhibition in Copenhagen started in 1981 and has been playing field for many well-known designers in the beginning of their career.

Minimalist, Nordic design – Normann Copenhagen presents the Heima candlestick.
According to Nordic mythology Heima means home or the world, but Heima is also the name behind the new candlestick from Normann Copenhagen. Heima, designed by Francis Cayouette, is a four-armed candlestick made of cast iron in a minimalist, Nordic design.

Inspired by the Nordic culture for living flames and the cast iron arts and craft movement of the 1950s, the French-Canadian Francis Cayouette has interpreted the classic candlestick. The result is a candlestick featuring a recognisable design that pays tribute to industrial craftsmanship and Nordic traditions. The uneven, almost cold surface gives the Heima candlestick character, while the rounded shapes make the design modern.

Maybe you have seen this already, the Blow away vase by Swedish design group Front. They made the vase by digitalizing and transforming a Royal Delft vase to simulate that it was blown away in the wind. We love how they take iconic pieces and mix it up new, to create something so fun.
