The sweet doggy patterns that you see below are from the Tillsammans collection and shows dachshunds from around the world, with hats and hairstyles to symbolize different nationalities.
It was created for a very special purpose: Lisa Bengtsson, one of Sweden’s most prominent designers, recently developed a new collection of wallpaper, textiles and posters exclusively for Save The Children. The products are available only in their design shop.

When buying these products, you are supporting a worthwhile cause – to protect and save little ones against violence and sexual assault and to invest in their future by ensuring that they receive a proper education.

The world-famous designer Jasper Morrison has always been fascinated by Danish design. His work has often been described as more Scandinavian than British in spirit, so its no surprise to hear that he has answered a call to curate and stage an exhibition on Danish design in Copenhagen’s Design Museum in Denmark. Danish Design – I like it! is an external and international look at Danish design and the exhibition marks the change of name from the Danish Museum of Art & Design to Design museum Denmark.


“Morrison’s viewpoint has culminated in a selection of pieces that work to embody the classic and humane qualities that make up Danish design – a process he reveals to be more complex than initially anticipated. ‘It is a very condensed selection – you’ve probably notice how jammed everything is’, he explains, ‘On the first day when we started, I was a bit worried we wouldn’t have enough stuff, but by the end, we were just pushing things in and just moving things around, trying to squeeze them all in’.” – Wallpaper

3 years in the making, the Molo chair is now launched for the Danish company Duba-B8. Molo is an easy to use and comfortable meeting and conference chair. The chairs in the Molo family is available with a runner frame and 4-leg base for canteen, meeting and conference areas and also includes a bar stool. Both the 4-leg and the runner frame is available with an armrest. Further versions are to be included in the family of chairs during 2012. The seating shell is made out of reusable ABS plastic and is introduced in 5 colours; black, white, lemon, violet and oyster white. For extra comfort one can add an especially designed felt cushion. All chairs are stackable.

Molo is designed by Norwegian design group Norway Says. Molo is most likely the last product from the design group since they decided to split up in the summer of 2009. Today the designers Andreas Engesvik, Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll work out of the designcompanys Andreas Engesvik Design and Anderssen & Voll.

After several years of research and development a bicycle helmet unlike anything available on the market was launched yesterday. It’s bicycle helmet called Hövding (chieftain) that does not even sit on your head. The founders and inventors Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin showed up world news at the Technical Fair in Stockholm.

According to the designers: “- We wanted to develop a protection for cyclists that take account of the requests we got in our investigations. The protection would include preserving the sense of freedom and not ruin your hairstyle, says Terese Alstin which is one of the inventors.”

Hövding is a discreet collar that the cyclist is wearing around his neck. The collar contains a folded airbag which is visible only at a collision. The airbag is designed as a hood that in case of an accident will enclose and protect the cyclist’s head. Release mechanism is controlled by sensors that register abnormal movements of the rider in an accident.

The designers tell us: “The actual collar is the visible part of the invention. The shell of the collar is removable and available in many different styles and fabrics and will be launched in new collections. Hövding is a practical, handy accessory that is easy to carry, is stylish and unobtrusive in its design, while it saves your life, says Anna Haupt.”

For six years, Anna Hauptmann and Terese Alstin have been working with the development of Hövding which is based on advanced technology and research. Both are trained industrial designers and it was during their degree project that they got the idea that laid the foundation for the development of Hövding. Today, twelve people work full time with Hövding.

Colour is a very important design element for kitchens and bathrooms since it plays an important role in affecting our mood. A good colour scheme can make your kitchen look livelier and more appealing. However, mismatched colour schemes can ruin your décor and create a negative vibe.

Looking around your kitchen, try to envision how it might look with a coordinated decorating scheme. You can choose colours, designs, and motifs from hundreds or thousands of products that are available at home furnishing stores or even specialty shops that exclusively offer kitchen items. Don’t settle for an out-of-date look. Start shopping for some exciting pieces to dress up your most frequented room.

Here are some helpful tips:

1. Use a colour scheme to achieve unity

There are three types of colour schemes: tonal, harmonious or complementary. Tonal schemes use various shades of one colour; harmonious colours sit side by side on the colour wheel and are well–balanced; complementary colours sit opposite each other and contrast dramatically.

2. Use colour to define seating areas in open plan kitchens

Rather than painting all four walls the same colour, highlight one wall to mark out a dining area or create an unusual graphic effect.

3. Use colour as simply as possible in large kitchen spaces

Don’t be tempted to try lots of different colours just because you have a large kitchen. Too many different elements become distracting. Instead use one colour for walls, another for floors, and then introduce accents. Experiment with darker colors in rooms that are large and spacious. If you have vaulted ceilings that appear cold or stark, try painting them a darker shade because it will warm up the room and make the ceiling appear closer.

4. Introduce colour via your kitchen accessories

Before you go wild with a pot of brightly coloured paint, consider how a brightly coloured bowl, vase or set of storage jars could help bring life to a neutral colour scheme.
