I’m Off To Shop!

One of the greatest things about owning/operating huset-shop.com is that I get to travel to Scandinavia several times a year. During each trip, I do my best to locate some new, up-and-coming designers and secure the latest modern Scandinavian products to make available to you, my huset customers.
I’ll be leaving in less than a week and would love to know what you would like me to be on the lookout for.
Is there a particular designer you want me to check out?
Or maybe a type of product you’d like me to consider carrying that I’m not carrying now?
Please leave your comments and I will do my best to find just what you’re after.
Off to shop,
Holly
PS – Make sure to check the blog from time-to-time as I will be adding some new posts that reveal some of the great finds I make while I am away.

I am interested in casual day to day modern pieces for women. Things we can wear for our pick up the kids, run around everywhere day and still look good. Also dresses for the little girls. Have a great trip.
July 17th, 2009 at 10:41 am
Thanks for asking–How about some things from Rice? They have that great brightly colored melamine and really cute kitchen things and cushions and stuff. They are all fair trade and they are very hard to find here. I’d also love to see some things from Greengate–their cute ceramics and kitchen stuff. As you can see, I lean towards the Scandanavian flowery/comfort side, as opposed to the sleek side. Also, more stuff from Isak and maybe some Marimekko kitchen stuff?
Have a great trip. Thanks for the store.
July 17th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Can’t wait to see the new finds from your upcoming trip. I’d be interested in any of the following:
-socks (kids and adult)
-plastic watches
-urban bags (smaller messenger type)
-bedding or bath linens
-an adult blanket/throw like the Klippan monster
-walking shoes
Safe travels…

If I were you I’d check out Ej Sikke Lej (Danish baby clothes), Pilgrim (Danish jewellery) and, for Christmas, little Swedish tree ornaments made of straw (‘star’ and ‘snow crystal’ shapes) as they make a lovely old fashioned look, reflect the lights slightly and have an amazing ability to brighten up a x-mas tree.
On the Linen side I’d look out for vintage-style printed tablecloths – increasingly popular I feel.
Have a great trip, Scandinavia is fab this time of year!
July 17th, 2009 at 11:22 am
love all the great baby/kids clothes. How about some baby /kid sweaters also. Also womans shoes.
July 17th, 2009 at 11:49 am

Hi Maggie,
We will have more women’s shoes from Swedish Hasbeens this fall, and I will also be on the look-out for more Scandinavian brands as well for Spring / Summer 2010.
July 17th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Hi Amanda, Since we are shopping for Spring / Summer 10, we won’t be able to add Christmas items for this year, but we will definitely keep that in mind for the following holiday season. We know the brand Ej Sikke Lej, and will definitely check out to see what their collection looks like for the next season as well.
Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Camilla, Thanks so much for your comments, we so appreciate it! We will definitely be adding more Odd Molly for Spring / Summer 2010, as this is the collection that we are shopping for. Fall / Winter shopping was back in February, so we are actually awaiting our Fall orders to arrive this coming month…wait till you see what we have in store for you!
With regards to the shipping costs, we only charge the cost the US Postal Service charges us, but we are always on the look-out for more economical ways to ship for our customers abroad.

Also specifically, if you can find (any brand) those 1 piece pyjamases that have feet, for kids 2 yrs and older. They are hard to find beyond the 18 month size.
Thanks and good luck!

July 18th, 2009 at 5:41 am
Susanne Schjerning textiles!! they’re gorgeous. i think they’d fit nicely with your other merchandise….
July 18th, 2009 at 7:02 am
I too love the casual everyday wear…the type you can throw on, that’s easy to take care of but that you still feel like a million bucks in every time! What I particularly like about the Odd Molly style (also some of DAY Birger et MIkkelsen and Hunkydory) is the loose fit, the “looks great without looking like you tried” kind of style, the great fabrics and layers (especially the cottons and linens). Also, as someone with two small children: clothes that are easy to take care of!
I would love to see a more infant/toddler & kids clothes/accessories!
But the bottom line is we all love YOUR GREAT TASTE which is why we love your store! Whatever you come back with I’m sure will be fabulous!!
Thank you!!
July 18th, 2009 at 7:05 am
I almost forgot: TUNICS!!!!
July 18th, 2009 at 8:02 am
I’d love, love, love to see more women’s clothing from Rosenberg CPH. It’s hard to get it here in the U.S. Their dresses are so pretty!
July 19th, 2009 at 4:30 am
Anything you find, will be great with me!
July 19th, 2009 at 5:08 am
Well Odd Molly of course – and Hunkydory. But as a big (ish) girl would love to have things in my size. Odd Molly size 3 just about fits, but I know they do some ranges in a 4 and to have that option would open a whole load more possibilities to me!
July 19th, 2009 at 6:20 am
my favourite brand is “Kipikude”(finland)!it’s very cute,so lovery.you know it?i already have a lot of their items.but in japan, there are very few shops can buy kipikude.you must check this brand,i strongly recommend it.if you may get some skulls & cats items,i really wanna buy them.
July 19th, 2009 at 7:45 am
Hi Yumiko,
We will definitely check out Kipikude from Finland. Have you seen this item at our store? http://www.huset-shop.com/dadas-diamonds-perish-necklace-p-342.html, it may be something you might like.

I adore your site for the fresh kids things I can find. I would love a larger selection of Molo…especially the tees. Also, kids games and toys. And things for older kids…ages/sizes 8+ are difficult to find. Thank you!!

July 22nd, 2009 at 12:14 pm
Love “hunkydory” and don’t forget odd molly!
Happy shopping
July 24th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
I love the Odd Molly range, especially the shirts and tunic tops.
July 24th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
I agree – more odd molly – and any interesting/quirky stuff that is quite bohemian and different – I have bought some fabulous stuff from your website and so many people comment.
Because of the style – not too fitted – it also always seem to fit – so I suppose the other things to buy are those that are quite foolproof in terms of sizing.
My only other comment is and I don’t know what the solution is that postage is soooo expensive and at times prohibitive – this does stop me buying. I suppose I can do larger orders together but often there are only one or two pieces that I want.
Have fun shopping
Harriet

Loved the Carrie Bicycle Basket you sold to me a few months ago. Love unique, clever and practical designs!
July 24th, 2009 at 6:44 pm
I also really liked the iiS of Norway Elise Tunic but it is out of stock in the large size – as someone else said – perhaps some more stock – it is all gorgeous!
July 24th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
I would love to see more odd molly and also diana orving.
July 24th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
Holly -
I purchased a blue + white bowl with a pattern of chairs that I checked to see if you were still carrying. Couldn’t find it on the site and wondered if you could get more in stock? I want another and maybe two.
Also, more pieces like this would be great to see.
Many thanks and have a great trip shopping!

Please take a look at bjørg’s website – she’s a norwegian artist who makes stunning jewellery:
http://www.bjorgjewellery.com/2009/
I have only found ONE reseller here in the US, namely Deep Fling.
Also, I would love it if you were to carry the ‘onceinalifetime’ coats by Odd Molly!
Lastly, ‘Sebra Interiør for Kids’ in Denmark has the most fabulous stuff!
http://www.sebra.dk/
Have fun in Sweden – hope all goes well

Please more Rabins Saloner! That clothing line is AWESOME!! I wish you had carried more of their line!! I truly love the jewelry too!!!
July 25th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Not sure what I should post. I don’t really fit in any Odd Molly outfits but my wife sure looks good in them. I do believe it is one of, if not her favorite clothing. As long as I am writing I have a question. We live in Stockholm and my wife loves Odd Molly. Do you know where I might inquire about how to get tickets to the show for my wife? Tickets is probably not the correct word but I am out of my league when it comes to fashion. I know it would be something she would enjoy and especially if it was something to do with Odd Molly. Have a great weekend!
July 25th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
To Thom: Hi Thom, thanks for you comments. The blue Rörstrand bowls you’re speaking about were limited edition bowls and so unfortunately they are not available any longer, they are collectors items now. On occasion Rörstrand does limited edition pieces that are only available for a certain time and there isn’t any more production of those pieces. The bowls are such an item. We do however have some of the other artists bowls that are part of that series still available. You can see them here: http://www.huset-shop.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Rorstrand.
We are always on the look out for more unique and special gifts such as these, so I hope you check back often.
Thanks again!

To Laura,
Hi Laura, you may not be aware, but we do have international shipping. We ship worldwide. We are continually striving to find better and more economical ways to ship to our customers abroad, but right now the United States Postal Service is the cheapest and most functional way to ship internationally.
Thanks so much for your comments!

I spent a few days in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Visby last year and absolutely fell in love with anything Scandinavian! I’m a huge fan of Hunkydory and Odd Molly– comfortable, but not dowdy; fun but sophisticated… and I always get lots of compliments! Bring back A LOT– esp tunics and tops to layer!
July 25th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
Hej Holly,
I love your shop, you should open one in NorCal!
I’d like even more Hunky Dory and Stylein.

Dear Holly:
I was reading your blog, so now I’d like to suggest to you if you can bring the “Yakkay helmets” to your online boutique.
I think the idea of this company is really great.I never thought that a helmet could be so cute, until I saw the Yakkay ones.
Thanks in advance,
Marina Luz
