Stockholm Fashion Week

Sweden’s greatest designers present their autumn/winter 2010 collections in Stockholm this week. Since its inception in 2005, the Fashion Week by Berns catwalk has grown its slate to support nearly forty Scandinavian design houses twice annually, with the primary focus being to attract the international fashion community of press and buyers to Swedish and Scandinavian design.

“Fashion Week by Berns is without doubt Stockholm’s finest event” says Christian Lippich, designer of the Men’s collection at Tiger of Sweden, in King Magazine, November 2008.

“Fashion Week by Berns features the most prominent Swedish designer shows, industry seminars, and special events. It all takes place under one roof – inside our 145-year-old entertainment complex, Berns Salonger. Therefore, Berns catwalk has grown into one of the most significant platforms for the future of Swedish design houses”, says Yvonne Sörensen Björud, CEO Berns Salonger and Chair of the Fashion Week by Berns Advisory Board.

Especially interesting is the collection of Ewa i Walla whose focus is the meeting between the hard working market women and the faded dancer. Inspired by different centuries, the result is a pirate theme without looking childish or ridiculous.
