Moomin Comes to Moominvalley
Adapted from the classic by Tove Jansson, Finland, with full page colorful illustrations.
The Moomin family is deep in their winter sleep when they are woken up by a cross Hemulen. "Don't you know Chistmas is coming, you can't sleep, you have to prepare for Christmas." But they don't know what Christmas is, is it something terrible? They're told they have to get a fir tree to survive it, and it needs to be decorated. Then they're told to get food. Does it eat? And candles, Christmas must like candles. And they lit the candles all around the tree, served food into bowls. But Hemulen now says they must have presents. And they gathered some of their favorite things and put them around the tree. And they needed a star. Was disaster going to stike? Time passed, and the little woodland creatures arrived, thrilled with the food and presents and the tree. Could it really all be for them? And when the Moomins decided that Christmas wasn't so dangerous after all, they could go back to their winter sleep. Ages 4-8.
