Almedahls Picknick Small Tray

Marianne Westman the designer behind the Picknick deign is one of Swedens most beloved designer. With Rörstrand classics such as "Mon Amie", "Picknick", "Pomona" och "Elisabeth" Marianne made the Swedish daily life both more beautiful, more fun - and more functional.

As a designer, Marianne Westman sought inspiration in her immediate surroundings. Her decorative designs and the products she created were inspired by what she found appealing, needed in her own kitchen, or felt would be useful to someone in her own family. Westman grew up in Falun, Sweden, she went to Konstfack in the 1940s and got direct employment at Rörstrand in 1950. She became instantly successful, and in her 21 years at Rörstrand created some of the most iconic Swedish ceramics of that era. The playful Picnic dinner service was launched in 1956. Almedahls recently received consent from the 80+ Marianne to re-introduce the Picknick pattern in trays, cutting boards, bags and tea towels. Here a wonderful large serving tray in the classic Picknick print.

Each tray is hand crafted from the highest quality Scandinavian birch from sustainable forests, and is produced by a family-run company situated on a small island off the southern Swedish mainland.

About The Designer

Almedahls

Almedahls is a Swedish textile company founded in 1846. While Scandinavian design tradition is their main source of inspiration, their in-house design studio works with both Swedish and international designers to stay on the forefront of modern design.

For Almedahls designers, the “feeling” their designs convey are of prime importance. This is true of both the look of their designs as well as the feel, which is why they use natural fibers of the highest quality. Astrid Sampe, Stefan Borselius and Claesson Koivisto Rune have all been part of various projects for Almedahls. They work together to create the classics of tomorrow.
