Snowpuppe Chestnut Lampshades
The story behind Studio Snowpuppe’s lampshades is about the fascination of paper and light. Energy-saving light bulbs have become very popular in Europe but often offer cold and harsh lighting. However, once the light filters through paper it changes and becomes cozy, especially in the light-deprived winter months of Middle and Northern Europe. This was the starting point for Nellianna and Kenneth, the two designers behind Studio Snowpuppe who experimented with paper diamond shapes and developed these origami paper lampshades.
The Chestnut lampshade was inspired by its namesake and has a cornered outside and a curved inside that you would not expect when looking at its outside. Studio Snowpuppe compares it to the first time you open a chestnut and see that it is very round and curved on the inside. It arrives folded in a tube-like shape and “falls” into it's shape without any effort. The design duo fold all their lamps by hand based on the ancient Japanese Origami technique. The lampshades fit around a standard energy-saving lightbulb.
The lampshades are made of special FSC certified paper of the type Butterfly, which is hardy and can last years with care.
For use with energy-saving lightbulbs or LED lightbulbs only. 11 Watt bulbs are preferred and offer similar lighting to a traditional 60 Watt.Dimensions: H 7" x Ø 11"
