Gustavsberg Eva Terrific Teacup with Saucer
Stig Lindberg was one of the most prolific designers in Scandinavia. For many Swedes, he is representative of the playful design of the 1950´s. Lindberg studied at the Swedish State School of Arts, crafts and design in Stockholm, hoping to become a painter. After graduating in 1937 he accepted an employment as a faience painter at Gustavsberg pottery under Wilhelm Kåge. Here the beloved Eva print on a teacup and saucer.
Stig Lindberg's terrific teacup with saucer, a stylistically pure shape and dot pattern. It was designed as part of the famous "Adam & Eva" series in 1959. The teacup comes from the present production at the Gustavsberg Factory in the Stockholm archipelago. It is skillfully handcrafted according to the area's long-standing pottery tradition. "The best way to grow your taste is to love the beautiful intensely." Each teacup is fired in a kiln three times which results in a solid tableware that is both dishwasher and microwave safe. A portion of the proceeds from every object sold goes to finance new exhibitions at the Gustavsberg's Porcelain Museum. The Adam & Eva series is represented in the reference guide "The Large Book about Stig Lindberg" which is shown in the photos. An example of legendary Swedish porcelain design!

About The Designer
Gustavsberg has manufactured porcelain since 1825. Although, the Gustavsberg history originates from the 1600s, when Gustav Gabrielsson Oxenstierna and his wife, Maria de la Gardie, founded a brickyard in Farsta bay. In memory of Oxenstierna, Farsta bay later came to change its name to Gustavsberg. It was not until 1825 that Gustavsberg became known for their manufacturing of porcelain.
Gustavsberg is now a leading brand in the porcelain industry. Their mission is to offer innovative solutions that make everyday life easier and more relaxing. Their commitment to high quality production and Nordic design still remains central to the company’s nearly 200 years of design history.
