Danish Design Meets Swiss Engineering

Ever heard of the Canary in a Coalmine story? This saying alludes to caged canaries that miners would carry down into the mine tunnels with them. If dangerous gases, such as carbon monoxide collected in the mine, the gases would kill the canary before killing the miners, thus providing a warning to exit the tunnels immediately.
Did you know that 90% of your life is spent indoors? — Very often in poor air quality, which increases the risk of asthma, headache, allergies and sleep disorders. (Just in the EU, 80 million homes are estimated to have a poor indoor climate.)
How It Works:
When air quality is poor, Birdie® will drop down when the level of CO2 is higher than 1.000 ppm for more than 10 minutes. When the level of CO2 drops below 800 ppm again the Birdie will return to standing position. It's very important to get airflow when you ventilate your home - you can get optimal airflow by opening multiple windows at once. Danish Health Authorities recommend ventilating for 5-10 minutes 2-3 times a day. Something that is very easy to forget to do. Unlike other air quality monitors, Birdie® will let you know when to ventilate your home without the use of annoying light, sound or phone notifications.
Benefits of Better Indoor Air Quality:
— Less headaches
— Better concentration
— More energy
— Improved general health & well-being
Included in the Box:
1x Birdie® Fresh Air Monitor™
1x 3M-tape wall mount (+ screw option)
1x USB-C to USB-A cable (for charging)
Battery time is up to 8 months with regular usage. Charging time is approximately 8 hours
Dimensions: 3 x 3.9 x 6.5 in

Meet Designer

Birdie

We spend the majority of our lives indoors in poor air quality. A huge, but invisible problem, that Hans thought was calling for a visible solution. So, he looked for one and came to think of ‘the canary in the coalmine’ and the idea was born. He immediately called his good friend, Andreas, to ask if he wanted to start a bird-company. He said yes and the two friends went on to turn the idea into reality.

After realizing how expensive it was to develop, manufacture and distribute a new innovative product, they decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign to raise money. On April 5th, 2022, they launched a campaign on Kickstarter raising almost $500,000 in 30 days. The two entrepreneurs were blown away by the support they received from thousands of customers in more than 63 countries from all around the world.

What began as a hobby-project, quickly turned into a full-time occupation for the two friends who are now on a mission to improve the indoor air quality in millions of homes, offices and schools around the world.
