Niwaki secateurs are the tools of choice for so many gardeners. Japanese blade-making proficiency is legendary; when this is combined with pared back design with a focus on durability and performance, the resulting tools are simply a joy to use.

About the GR Pro Secateurs

Niwaki’s best-selling secateur: the perfect combination of robust, hard wearing steel, with well-balanced precision and ergonomics. Drop forged and hand finished in Yamagata, Japan, these ‘double yellows’ are the perfect combination of refined craftsmanship and every day usability. Tough carbon steel holds a mean edge, the chunky catch at the bottom and the strong spring gives a reassuringly simple functional feel, and the yellow grips show up when you’ve left them somewhere in the garden (or you can remove them for a more traditional look.) Perfect for keen gardeners, landscapers and professionals who work their tools hard and need quality and precision in daily use.

  • 8.8cm Vinyl Grip handles
  • Made in Yamagata, Japan
  • Includes Spare Spring
  • Max cut Ø0.6"

About Rattan Secateurs

These Limited Edition secateurs are special in all sorts of ways - they’re forged from S58C carbon steel, a premium, hard-wearing steel that retains its edge well and sharpens easily. The design is a combination of the two traditional Japanese secateur designs, A and B Types, offering perfect ergonomics of grip and balance for long use. Handles are wrapped with Wisteria rattan, which not only looks amazing but also provides a natural, textured grip that feels great in the hand.

Limited production batches. Niwaki Secateurs are presented in a handmade Paulownia box. Known in Japan as Kiribako, these simple wooden boxes are used to store art and treasured objects.

As a natural material, rattan should be treated with a step more carefully than the regular secateurs - not bashed about, not left out in the rain overnight (not a good idea, for any tools, incidentally…) and generally looked after.

Max cut Ø0.6"

  • Made in Sanjo, Japan
  • Includes Spare Spring
